I was searching for information about Sphynx cats when I came across this cool blog titled Naked and Hungry. When I saw Moshe Moshi I knew I had to interview him here at Cat Lady Confidential and find out more about him and this amazing cat breed. So, let’s hear what this naked boy has to tell us 🙂
Name: Moshe Moshi
Age: Almost 8!
Where do you live? We live in the Capitol City of the United States of America
Q: Moshe Moshi, tell us your story.
Moshe Moshi: I didn’t always live with The MaMa (my cat mom). The MaMa had a friend who volunteered with a place that helped sick and old people eat food and take care of their pets. The friend always called The MaMa when he had a question about cats. This friend took The MaMa to see this guy he was helping; Mr. H (my Dad). Mr. H was very sick with a disease called AIDS and couldn’t take care of me very well. They asked The MaMa if she would take care of me for a while until Mr. H felt better, only Mr. H never felt better again and died. The MaMa decided to keep me and we have been together ever since. I have a brother named Jake who is a Cornish Rex (he has wavy red hair and talks all the time), and a new sister named Lexi Lui who is a Sphynx like me. She’s from South Africa! My other sister, Maus who was also a Cornish Rex died last year. I miss her very much.
Q: What about your human family, what can you tell us about them?
Moshe Moshi: The MaMa takes very good care of us. She big and warm and gives us plenty of kisses. She works at a mooseum called “Smithsonian”. She takes me and my brother to work with her sometimes. I don’t understand why they call it a Mooseum, I’ve never seen any cows there.
Q: Since you are a Sphynx cat do you require some special care?
Moshe Moshi: The MaMa gives my sister and me a bath every Sunday and washes our faces and paws every other day. Because we don’t have much hair we need to wash regularly to keep dirt out of our eyes (no eyelashes) and ears (no hair in our ears) and off our toes (no hair between our toes). We also get something called a “Blackhead” and The MaMa has to scrub us hard to keep them off. Sphynx cats have very, very, very short hair, so short that people think we are just skin. If you pet us we feel like hot suede or a peach. We also get really oily. That’s because hair on cat absorbs body oil. Since we don’t have enough hair to absorb the oil it gets left all over The MaMa and her fur-niture. That’s why we get baths all the time. Don’t like the baths, but I do love the coconut oil belly rubs and chicken after baths. The MaMa dresses us up in clothes on special occasions like holidays or parades, but we don’t need clothes if it is warm enough. If we sit in the sun too long we get sunburned! We wear t-shirts for that.
Q: You eat a raw diet. Why did your family choose this diet for you?
Moshe Moshi: When I came to live with The MaMa I was not a well kitty. I pooped everywhere all the time and it smelled BAD. I had a bug in my tummy called a parasite and allergies and everything made me poop. She found a cat food that didn’t make me poop, but it was very expensive to feel all us naked cats. A friend told her about making her own cat food to save money. She did a lot of reading on the tablet about making cat food. When she started doing that my smelly poop went away and I was not allergic to any of the raw food I was eating. We eat can sometimes if we are traveling, but at home we always eat raw.
Q: Things you love?
Moshe Moshi: Heating pads, shrimp and French vanilla ice cream – The MaMa lets me lick the bowl.
Q: Things you hate?
Moshe Moshi: Having my ears cleaned – the worst!
Q: What’s your favorite toy?
Moshe Moshi: I ♥ Ping-Pong Balls!
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
Moshe Moshi: Other than the ice cream, The MaMa give us dehydrated salmon and rabbit, DELISH!
Q: Your life motto or favorite quote?
Once you go naked, you’ll want to stay that way.”
