Content Lessons Learned From The Top 10 Most Popular Blog Posts
2015 is over and it’s time to announce the most popular posts at Cat Lady Confidential. Some of these posts I was already anticipating it to be popular when I hit the publish button, but others really surprised me. So, take a look back at the top 10 of your most favorite posts of 2015 ranked by total number of page views.
I’ve been writing Cat Lady Confidential for less than a year (the first post was published April 2015), and have produced 122 posts. Even though this is still a young blog I find it important to look at the numbers and try to analyze what works and what doesn’t work. So, here’s what I learned from this list of popular posts:
Lessons Learned From 10 Popular Blog Posts
- The numbers and lists thing works. 6 of my top 10 most popular posts have a number in the headline.
- DIY posts are still popular. Even a beginner’s DIY cat house with poor pictures can become popular.
- Search does matter. Most of these top 10 posts have some relevant search term in the headline (and the page title and URL). I use Google Keyword Planner to search for keywords.
- Your gut feeling isn’t always right. Some series of posts which I thought would be popular weren’t popular at all (Cat Lady Fashion Picks, Cat Art and Design Picks, for instance).
So, in 2016 I’ll be using what I learned to craft some more popular posts (at least I hope so)!
